The University of Bologna (UNIBO) was founded in 1088. Nowadays, it remains one of the most important institutions of higher education across Europe with around 85.000 enrolled students, 11 Schools, 33 research departments, 3000 academics, and 3000 administrative staff. The University of Bologna is a comprehensive Higher Education Institution in the Emilia-Romagna region, which is located in the centre-north of Italy. Its services are distributed across 5 Campuses: the main one is in the city of Bologna, while the other ones are in the cities of Forlì, Cesena, Rimini, and Ravenna, respectively.
Among all Italian universities, the University of Bologna is the most International one. The number of foreign students regularly participating in the UNIBO academic life is around 6000, while other 2000 students are used to come every year via international mobility programmes as LLP/Erasmus, Overseas, and Erasmus Mundus Action II. On the other hand, the number of UNIBO students going abroad on exchanging programmes or on study grants is more than 2000.
UNIBO academic offer is composed by around 100 Undergraduate programmes, more than 100 Master programmes, 25 of which are completely taught in English or in another foreign language, and more than 90 Doctoral Programmes.
The University of Bologna, based on the experience and results obtained in the period 2007-2013 in the internationalization of education, has recently developed its new Internationalization strategy named “ALMA GLOBAL 2020”, which is also summarized in the ECHE 2014-2020.
Department of psychology
The Department of Psychology consists of over 60 staff members whose work covers almost all the psychological disciplines. In terms of scientific research impact and quality of teaching the Department was awarded with 6ml Euros being the second most qualified Department of psychology in Italy.
UNIBO role
In the SiDeCar Project, UNIBO is the lead coordinator and supervisor of all activities. In addition to project management, UNIBO is in charge of conducting a review about HE curricula and best practices in the field of psychosocial interventions in Europe. Finally, UNIBO will promote actions among local academic and welfare stakeholders with the aim of raise awareness about the need to embrace the psychosocial care approach via the development of more cognate curricula of studies.
GRIPIDEM (Research Group on Psychosocial Interventions in aging and DEMentias
- Prof Rabih Chattat (rabih.chattat@unibo.it): Senior Associate professor in Clinical Psychology, Vice-rector for the disability issues, member of the Board of the InterDem network (a European panel of experts) since 2008, member of National and International Societies about aging and psychology, Partner in national and international projects.
- Dr Giovanni Ottoboni (giovanni.ottoboni@unibo.it): Licensed psychologist, he is Post-Doc research fellow studying the psychosocial needs of people with young-onset-dementia. Since 2014 he serves as Elected Official within the Board of Psychologists Registration Board of the FVG Italian Region and within the board for the Definition of the Continuing Professional Development in Medicine.
- Dr Ilaria Chirico (ilaria.chirico2@unibo.it): Licensed psychologist and psychotherapist, she is a Post-Doc research fellow who is actually involved in national and European projects dealing with psychosocial interventions in dementia care.
